The spy who advised me

News broke last week that the FBI had arrested eleven people in the New York area on charges of being spy’s for Russian Intelligence. While there are many interesting aspects to this story, I was most surprised to learn that one of the alleged suspects was a financial planner.

Cynthia Murphy was living in New Jersey, and working in Manhattan for Morea Financial Services. Not only that, she also was a practicing CFP®. For those of us who have earned our status as Certified Financial Planners™, this certainly isn’t the “press” we were hoping our industry would receive!

I’m sure more details will emerge as the case against the eleven moves forward and when the press finds clients of Cynthia’s willing to talk about their experience with her. I can only image the stories they’ll tell.

Just like the jargon the financial industry has invented, you just can’t make this stuff up…
